Recognition of a Foreign Higher Education Document for the Purpose of Continuing Education
Recognition of a foreign higher education document (academic recognition) is a procedure through which the holder of such a document is granted the right to continue education at the faculties within the University of Kragujevac, i.e. at the University of Kragujevac.
The procedure for the recognition of a foreign higher education document for the purpose of continuing education is initiated by submitting a request for recognition of a foreign higher education document, which should be delivered to the following address: Rectorate of the University of Kragujevac, Liceja Knezevine Srbije 1A, 34000 Kragujevac, either in person at the registry office on working days from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., by post, or via the official email address designated for receiving requests.
Required Documentation
(if the documentation is submitted in paper form - in 2 copies)
- Completed application form for the recognition of a foreign higher education document for the purpose of continuing education.
- A signed Statement of Consent by the applicant, as the holder of the foreign higher education document, authorizing the University of Kragujevac to process the applicant's personal data in accordance with the applicable Law on Personal Data Protection and other regulations governing personal data protection.

For candidates initiating the procedure for recognition of a diploma/certificate of completed studies for the purpose of enrolling in the next level of studies:

- a certified copy of the diploma and diploma supplement, or a graduation certificate, or another public document confirming successful completion of a higher education program if the diploma has not yet been issued,
- a certified copy of the certificate/transcript of passed examinations by semesters and years, if a diploma supplement is not issued together with the diploma.
For candidates initiating the procedure for recognition of a certificate confirming completion of part of a study program for the purpose of inclusion in the corresponding year of an already commenced level of higher education studies:

- a certified copy of the certificate or confirmation of completion of part of the study program,
- a certified copy of the certificate/transcript of passed examinations by semesters and years.
If the aforementioned documents were issued in a country with which the Republic of Serbia has concluded a bilateral agreement on mutual exemption of public documents from legalization, the documents do not need to be legalized nor contain an Apostille certificate. These countries are: Republic of Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Cyprus, Hungary, Republic of North Macedonia, Mongolia, Romania, Russian Federation, Ukraine, Republic of Turkiye, Republic of Croatia, Republic of Slovenia, Slovak Republic, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Republic of Poland, French Republic, Republic of Austria, and Republic of Bulgaria.
If the aforementioned documents were issued in a country that is a signatory to the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (the so-called Hague Convention), and the Republic of Serbia does not have a bilateral agreement with that country on mutual exemption of public documents from legalization, the documents must contain an Apostille certificate issued by the competent authority of the country from which the document originates. For all other countries with which the Republic of Serbia has not concluded a bilateral agreement on mutual exemption of public documents from legalization and which are not signatories to the Hague Convention, full legalization of public documents is required. - A Serbian translation of the documents listed under item 3, certified by a sworn court translator.
Candidates are not required to translate documentation of higher education documents obtained in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of North Macedonia, Republic of Slovenia, Republic of Croatia, and Montenegro, provided that the documents were issued in the official language of those countries, unless subsequently requested by the competent authority in the evaluation and recognition procedure.
- The study program or curriculum, including a brief description of course contents (issued by the faculty or available on the faculty's website), in the original language and translated into Serbian, in printed form and in electronic form on a CD or USB drive.
The candidate bears responsibility for providing adequate information.
If the study program or curriculum is in English, its translation is not required.
- A certified copy of the decision issued by the competent authority or a marriage certificate for applicants who have changed their first and/or last name compared to the name indicated on the higher education document.
- A photocopy of an ID card or passport (the first page with the photograph) in two copies.
- Proof of payment of the procedure costs.
Note:
All bank transaction costs are borne by the candidate submitting the request and are not included in the fee for recognition of the higher education document.
Additional Information
Higher education public documents obtained in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) until April 27, 1992, in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia or the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro until June 16, 2006, and in Republika Srpska are not subject to the procedure for recognition of a foreign higher education document and produce the same legal effect as public documents issued in the Republic of Serbia.
Recognition of foreign higher education documents for employment purposes (professional recognition) is carried out by the Qualifications Agency of the Republic of Serbia, ENIC/NARIC Center.
Recognition of foreign secondary school documents is carried out by the Qualifications Agency of the Republic of Serbia, ENIC/NARIC Center.
